Windsocks

We have produced windsocks for airfields, airports and for the chemical, oil and gas industries. Windsocks are a necessity for some buildings and areas, and we make sure that ours are produced to the highest quality here in the UK.

We have a choice of sizes available for our windsock flags, and are also able to produce bespoke windsock flags ideal for festival and events. We can also supply our windsock flags with a flagpole, providing you with the full package.

Windsocks are a reliable wind indicator that are highly visible and necessary for airfields, airports, chemical, gas and oil industries. All of our windsocks are made in house at our head office in Cambridgeshire, enabling us to ensure that all of our windsocks are made to the highest standard and quality.

All of our windsocks have undergone rigorous testing in different weather conditions, making sure they are suitable for your requirements. We have supplied windsock flags to a variety of different industries, including the aviation industry, chemical factories, ports and for sporting events. This has provided us with vast experience of producing all kinds of windsocks to a range of different requirements.

We have two options for our windsocks:

Standard Dayglo Orange

All of our standard windsocks come in Dayglo Orange making them highly visible even in daylight. Dayglo Orange is also known as Safety Orange. We use a highly durable material for our standard windsocks, ensuring they can withstand high wind environments.

Custom Design

A custom designed windsock allows you to have your own branding for events or your airfield or marina. Our custom designs use our Polymesh material, which is highly durable and allows for printed designs to be displayed on the material. We understand that some industries have different requirements to how their windsocks should be designed and displayed. We can make sure that our windsock flags suit your industry requirements and your display purposes.

Our standard windsocks measure:

Small Windsock

1.8m length, 0.6m opening diameter, tapering to 0.2m.

Medium Windsock

2.1m length, 0.75m opening diameter, tapering to 0.25m.

Large Windsock

2.7m length, 0.9m opening diameter, tapering to 0.3m.

We are also able to produce bespoke sized windsock flags to fit your requirements.

WindsocksAll windsocks come with a swivel clip to attach to your flagpole. This makes it easy for you to install your windsock. For windsocks that are displayed on roof tops or other locations that are challenging to get to, our installation team will be able to install and carry out flag changes, making sure your windsocks are installed and displayed properly.

Whether you require an installation at one UK site or sites nationwide, our team can help. In addition to one off installation projects, we offer a contract option to help keep flags up-to-date according to new promotions.

House of Flags is approved by the Alcumus Safe SafecontractorContractor standard. Can I have a custom printed windsock?

Yes, we offer a custom windsock option which allows you to print your own designs and logos. This option uses our Polymesh material.

Why do I need a windsock?

Windsocks are an important wind indicator tool, they are essential for using at airports and airfields and even in the chemical, oil and gas industries. Our windsocks help to determine the strength and the direction of the wind.

Are you able to supply windsock masts and swivel systems?

Yes, we can supply and produce all the necessary components and products you need to fly your windsock.

Where are windsock flags used?

Windsocks can be used in a variety of different situations and industries. We supply windsocks most often to the aviation industry, where they are used as a wind indicator on runways and airfields. Other businesses that use windsock flags include, chemical factories, factories where fumes are released, seaports and offshore rigs, windy locations, festivals and sporting events, where they are used for decoration. Each different industry have different requirements for their windsocks which we make sure we adhere to. Any business where the wind needs to be measured can use a windsock, helping them to understand the wind speed and direction.

Ask us about our new Pollutant eating coating which we can apply to your flags!

EnhanceAir®, Powered by PURETiTM Light-activated coating that destroys air pollution.

When applied to outdoor advertising media, EnhanceAir turns any treated material into an air purifying surface that not only enhances human health, but contributes to the fight against global warming.

  • The coating is transparent and does not impact the appearance or durability of the ad itself.
  • Typically applied as the last step in the printing process.
  • No changes are required in the installation process.
  • It does not affect the recyclability of the material.

THE SCIENCE OF ENHANCEAIR: PHOTOCATALYSIS

When UVA light energy activates the coating, it starts a chemical process that turns nearby oxygen and water vapor into two powerful cleaning agents (OH-* and O2-*)

• These two cleaning agents convert pollutants into harmless minerals and gasses.

• The active mineral is a catalyst, so it is not consumed in the process. It continues to work as long as it is on the surface and has access to humidity and light.

• The process happens only at the surface and repeats constantly to clean the surface and the air that comes in contact with it.

Why NOx?

Nitrogen oxides (NO and NO2) are formed during combustion. NOx is harmful in several ways:

• It irritates airways and increases susceptibility to allergens.

• It combines with other pollutants in the air to create smog, acid rain, PM2.5 and ground level ozone, which contributes to global warming.

• Increases risk of heart disease, stroke, COPD, and lung cancer.

• It has a much higher Global Warming Potential than CO2.

NOx is an indirect greenhouse gas. It does not trap heat directly, but leads to the creation of other gases, like ozone, that are greenhouse gases. It is included on the list of gases that countries report in their greenhouse gas inventories.

EnhanceAir fights climate change and improves human health by destroying NOx and other pollutants. It helps lower the greenhouse gas footprint, but not the carbon footprint.

Proven Laboratory and Real World Results

Using a test based on the ISO 22197-1 standard, we pass a fixed amount of NOx across a treated surface where the air is in contact with the surface for only 1 second on average before being replaced by new polluted air at the same concentration. The concentration of NOx is measured as it exits the chamber.
